From Junkyard Parts to CTO of Global Virtual Networks

Origins

I am a proud Arizona native, having grown up deeply rooted between Casa Grande and Prescott. My fascination with electronics wasn't something that developed later in life—it was there from my earliest days, driven by an insatiable need to understand exactly how things ticked.

My journey into the digital world truly began when my family purchased one of the first home-based Apple PCs, which ignited a lifelong passion for computing. But it was during the Windows 98 era that my true engineering and hacker mentality took shape. Driven by relentless curiosity and limited resources, I began scavenging broken machines in junkyards, piecing together discarded motherboards, RAM, and power supplies.

The defining moment came when I finally found a working CPU, only to discover the pins were severely bent, and some were missing entirely. Undeterred, I meticulously re-bent the salvageable pins and carefully soldered on new ones. Against all odds, it worked. I had successfully built my first working Windows PC out of pure scrap. That pivotal experience cemented my drive to build machines from the ground up, master electronic components at their lowest possible physical level, and continuously push the boundaries of what I could engineer with my own hands.

Building

Hardware naturally led me to software. I wanted to tell the machines I built exactly what to do. I started by learning JavaScript and Flash (ActionScript) to create interactive websites and early web games. But I quickly realized I wanted to build tangible, real-world applications that people relied on daily.

I transitioned to Visual Basic, teaching myself how to construct user interfaces. At the height of the MySpace era, I built a highly popular profile generator using drag-and-drop Windows forms that allowed users to easily modify their profiles to look like completely customized websites. After mastering Visual Basic, I took on C#. With C#, I built a custom media player and eventually developed a complex U-Haul rental PDF form generator for a local vendor, cementing my ability to deliver enterprise-level software solutions.

Scaling

Even as my software skills grew, my hardware roots remained strong. I tinkered extensively with Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, and later, the ESP32 RISC-V microcontrollers. I taught myself deep electronics and circuitry, eventually learning to design and fabricate my own custom PCBs. As 3D printing and CNC machining entered the market, I immediately adopted 3D CAD design to manufacture the physical housings and mechanical components for my circuits.

My career took a major step into the enterprise realm when I joined the team at DesktopCloud Solutions. There, we engineered a massive Enterprise CRM and VOIP application that integrated live voice calls directly with CRM data. We successfully launched this system across numerous call centers in the US and the Philippines. Crucially, this was where I was first introduced to Machine Learning—we utilized correlation models to calculate leads, lead types, and categories, sparking an obsession with AI that would shape my future.

Leading

Armed with deep full-stack and hardware experience, I launched my own successful contracting firm, CloudX Arizona, where I spent over five years developing websites, business software, and complex technical integrations for clients.

Eventually, I crossed paths with the incredible team at Global Virtual Networks (GVN) right here in Prescott, Arizona. Recognizing the synergy, I quickly decided I needed to be a part of their mission, ultimately working my way up to Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Today at GVN, I lay my hat working on the bleeding edge of the industry. My daily research and project work heavily involves Mechanistic Interpretability, AI Agentic Frameworks, testing and troubleshooting local ML models, and advanced FPGA and hardware design. I feel entirely at home with this team, turning what was once a passionate hobby into my life's work.

Off-Screen

I’ve always believed that the best engineers draw inspiration from outside the laboratory. I am not your typical nerd—when I'm not designing circuits, writing algorithms, or architecting AI agents, you can almost always find me outdoors embracing the beautiful Arizona landscape. I am an avid hiker, mountain biker, and camper who finds absolute peace and clarity in nature. I also have a deep passion for music and love playing the guitar to disconnect from the digital world.

Ultimately, my core philosophy is incredibly simple: Take tech and help the world. There is so much more we can do to improve our world and the lives of the people in it. I strongly believe that with the technology we have available today, we possess the unprecedented ability to end global crises like hunger and homelessness. We just need the collective will to make it happen. I build, innovate, and lead because I want to leave behind a fundamentally better future for our children and the generations to come.
